Patricia Kühfuss (Master of Fine Arts, photojournalist)
The image of nursing should be improved - but how, when visual stereotypes dominate the media and the competence and performance of the profession often remain invisible?
Carers offer professional support in intimate everyday moments and borderline situations. Making this public through images is a complex challenge that photographer Patricia Kühfuss has been working on since 2018. In her lecture, she takes the audience on a journey through everyday editorial work in the media, builds bridges between visual representation and actual working conditions and opens up a constructive perspective on the nursing profession, which is based on its unique characteristics instead of clichés in the mind.
Patricia Kühfuss(www.patriciakuehfuss.com) studied photojournalism in Hanover and Aarhus and completed her Master's degree in "Photography & Society" in The Hague in 2022 on the economics of the German healthcare system. She is part of the photo agency laif and since June 2024 has been funded in a scienceXmedia tandem of the Charité Foundation in the field of nursing science.

Photographs have a direct and associative effect and can thus provide access to complex topics. In public spaces, there is an increasing number of photographs depicting care work and care-related phenomena. There is great potential here for working with images in nursing lessons - but what special features need to be considered?
The workshop focuses on an experimental and exploratory approach to depictions of nursing in photography. Let us surprise you! In addition to working with exemplary images, there will also be audio tracks with image associations. The workshop will use exemplary cases to interpret and discuss the learning and educational opportunities that can be associated with image work in nursing lessons. In addition to nursing didactic gains, challenges will also be discussed. Click here to register via Dudle:
