Project description and objectives

Vacancies in nursing care are becoming increasingly difficult to fill for a variety of reasons. The introduction of generalist nursing training in 2020 also poses a wide range of challenges for the people and institutions involved in training. The main aim of the Saxony Nursing Training Advice Center is to advise and support practice instructors and trainees with regard to the challenges of practical vocational training. The project is funded by the Saxon State Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Social Cohesion (SMS).

During the 2022-2023 project period, a survey was conducted on the specific support needs of the stakeholders involved in practical nursing training in Saxony. Based on the findings, various advice and support services were designed and tested in the 2023-2024 project period.

The advice center will (continue to) pursue the following goals and measures in 2025

• Offering pedagogical training formats for practice instructors,
• Prevent the withdrawal of practice instructors from care, e.g. by providing needs-oriented advice and exchange formats for practice instructors as well as possible individual case consultations for practice instructors
• Test/support best practice examples to reduce training drop-outs, e.g. via workshops to prepare for external assignments in practical training with trainees
• Networking the various stakeholders in practical nursing training via our services, e.g. via the Digitaler Stammtisch Praxisanleitung.
