Project description and objectives
Vacancies in nursing care are becoming increasingly difficult to fill for a variety of reasons. The introduction of generalist nursing training in 2020 also poses a variety of challenges for the people and institutions involved in training. The support strategies implemented by the Free State of Saxony for the implementation of the Nursing Professions Act have so far focused primarily on the school-based part of training.
With the help of the pilot project Beratungsstelle Pflegeausbildung Sachsen, the main aim is to advise and support practical instructors and trainees with regard to the challenges of practical vocational training.
In the period 2022-2023, a survey was conducted on the specific support needs of the stakeholders involved in practical nursing training in Saxony. Based on the findings, various advice and support services will be designed and tested in the current project period (2023- 2024). The following objectives and measures are associated with this
- Offering pedagogical training formats for practice instructors,
- Prevent the withdrawal of practice instructors from care, e.g. by carrying out needs-oriented consultation and exchange formats for practice instructors and through possible individual case consultations for practice instructors
- Test/support best-practice examples to reduce training drop-outs, e.g. via a peer mentoring program for trainees, a social media project to support trainees
- Designing an ombudsman's office for nursing training in Saxony
- Networking the various stakeholders in practical nursing training.
