Profile
TU Dresden has a long tradition of teacher training for vocational schools. This training is differentiated in many ways. There are numerous vocational specializations (BFR) at the TU Dresden.
The two BFRs Metal and Mechanical Engineering (MMT) and Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (ET/IT) were initially conceived as independent subjects, each with its own didactics professorship. As the professorship in the BFR ET was never established and filled after 1990, it was assigned to the professorship for didactics in the BFR MMT. With the assumption of the professorship for vocational didactics in the BFR MMT in the summer semester of 2007 by Prof. Dr. phil. habil. Martin D. Hartmann, both vocational disciplines will be given equal weight, and the concept of the two vocational disciplines will seek opportunities for networking in order to achieve synergy effects. For example, the laboratory concept of an automated model factory (in cooperation with the in-house training workshop of the TU Dresden, which belongs to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology) addresses both disciplines. Joint tasks are also considered for projects in connection with the vocational didactics courses.
The professorship has carried out a number of research and development projects in the past and continues to do so today. Two to four colloquia a year are planned to summarize the status of discussions, reflect the status of doctoral theses, give students the opportunity to present their lesson plans to an interested audience of teachers, university staff, representatives of companies and associations as well as chambers and institutions of the state, etc. and to receive feedback and provide an overview of the activities within the professorship. If you are interested in being invited to these colloquia, please contact Prof. M. Hartmann.
