Current title:
Biographical research on female authors in Germany
Life and work in the travel literature industry
Abstract:
In the planned doctoral project, I will focus on the lives of German female authors and analyze them with the help of grounded theory. I will conduct narrative interviews with authors who have already published books about their travels in publishing houses that are not self-publishers. As a journalist and event manager, I have been working for several years on the question of what opportunities, challenges and limitations exist for women to work as freelance travel writers. I want to focus on women, especially from the travel literature industry, and examine the advantages and disadvantages of being a woman in this field. I analyze biographies, examine different stages and describe the careers of female travel writers up to the present day. There are currently no comparable projects, so this dissertation topic has a unique selling point. With my study, I would like to close the existing research gap.
