4th symposium "Werk - Technik Computer (TC) - Wirtschaft-Technik-Haushalt/Soziales (WTH/S)" on September 27, 2018
The fourth symposium was all about acquiring skills, with the theme: "Teaching methods for developing technical, social and personal skills".
This year, 160 participants, including teachers, students, university staff and association members, were welcomed in the foyer of the Viktor-Klemperer-Saal. At the same time, the guests were able to make their first contacts at the stands of the Market of Opportunities in the new, larger premises.
The event was opened with welcoming remarks by Georg Flade, Director of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Friedrich Funke, Dean of the Faculty of Education at TU Dresden, and Prof. Dr. Martin Hartmann, Chair of Metals and Machine Technology / Vocational Didactics.
Teachers from primary schools, secondary schools and grammar schools were able to choose from a total of ten training courses, which covered a wide range of topics. At the same time, representatives from the Saxon universities in Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig, subject advisors, representatives from the Saxon State Office for Schools and Education (LaSuB) and other interested parties discussed the topics during the university discussion, which also took place for the fourth time as part of the symposium.
The specialist presentations also focused on the topic of skills acquisition. Norbert Rokasky, Managing Director of AMS Metalltechnik und Schweißer mbH, spoke about the need to develop technical, social and personal skills. The presentation by Prof. Andreas Hüttner from the European University of Flensburg was well received. He focused on the development of creativity among students in technology lessons through the use of didactic planning structures in a targeted manner.
This year, the new forum for questions and answers replaced the panel discussion. Within this forum, questions submitted in advance were answered by a team of experts in front of the conference audience. The experts included Michael Lenk (Deputy Teacher in Higher Education at TU Dresden), Prof. Dr. Brigit Peuker (Professor of Nutrition and Consumer Education at the European University of Flensburg), Prof. Dr. Björn Egbert (Professor of Primary School Didactics of Economics - Technology - Household and Social Affairs at Chemnitz University of Technology), Prof. Dr. Martin Hartmann, Dr. David Obst (Teacher of Computer Technology at Gymnasium SüdWest) and Marina Fuhrmann (Subject Advisor WTH/S).
We, the organization team and the management of the symposium, would like to thank all participants, all helpers and Advisors.

3rd symposium on Crafts - Computer Technology (TC) - Economy-Technology-Household/Social Affairs (WTH/S) on 28.09.2017
Once again this year, all advocates of the subjects sat down together to discuss the main topics: "Proven techniques - new technologies - changing market".
With a record attendance of 140 conference guests, consisting of subject representatives, students, teaching staff, university employees and association members, we can look back on a successful event.
As usual, the event was opened with words of welcome from the Dean of the Faculty of Education at TU Dresden, Prof. Dr. Friedrich Funke, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Education, Prof. Dr. Köhler, and the Advisor of the Saxon State Ministry of Culture, Mr. Torsten Bechstädt.
There was space and time for exchange and discovery at the Market of Opportunities. Stimulating discussions took place here at numerous information stands. In addition, there was once again the opportunity to take part in two of the numerous training courses on offer, which were very well received by teachers from primary and secondary schools as well as grammar schools.
Specialist conferences thrive on the professional expertise of the Advisors. Accordingly, a practice-oriented introductory lecture by one of the managing directors of the company "dieMeisterTischler Deutschmann und Schöne GbR" was followed. In line with the conference theme, Mr. Deutschmann illustrated how his successful company uses tried-and-tested techniques and new technologies and highlighted the importance of the skilled trades and the corresponding need for young talent.
The focus of the specialist lecture by Prof. Dr. Martin Hartmann from TU Dresden was on the future of education, in particular the subjects of crafts - TC - WTH/S. The main focus was on current socio-political issues and the concept of problem-oriented and interdisciplinary teaching.
The thematically linked panel discussion was led by Dipl.-Päd. Dana Frohwieser. Mr. Bechstädt (Advisor Saxon State Ministry of Culture), Prof. Dr. Hartmann (Professor at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg), Mr. Kunz (Technical Advisor WTH SBA Chemnitz), Mr. Hammerschmidt (Headmaster Waldblick-Oberschule Freital-Niederhäslich), Mr. Pöche (Student WTH) and Mr. Rokasky (Managing Director AMS Ausbildungsgesellschaft für Metalltechnik und Schweißer mbH) took up exciting and discussion-stimulating questions. The audience was also eager to participate in the concluding discussion round.
A big thank you for this successful day goes to all helpers, Advisors and participants!
