In-service qualification of teachers (BQL) in technology and computers (TC)
The subject of technology and computers (TC) has been taught in Saxony in secondary schools, grammar schools and special schools since 2004 as a successor subject to the subject of crafts. However, TC is not offered as a subject in the teacher training courses at Saxon universities. Instead, teachers from outside the subject are qualified through so-called certificate courses. Since 2023, these courses have been held at TU Dresden on behalf of the Saxon State Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs.
The course content is based on the TC curriculum for secondary schools, community schools, special schools and grammar schools. Teachers are prepared in a targeted manner to teach technical and digital basics in a way that is appropriate for the school and action-oriented.
Practice and theory are closely intertwined in this teacher training course: workshop work, digital tools and subject didactics are linked from the outset with the aim of preparing students in a targeted manner for a technologized world so that they can actively help shape it.
