ecu future prize
Saxon State Ministry for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture awards one of the "eku - FUTURE PRIZES 2022" to the TUD project "Future Workshop for Sustainable Education (ZuNaBi) - Thinking Future - Shaping Present".
Prof. Dr. Martina Knörzer, Chair of Primary Education / Social Studies and Science Education at the Faculty of Education at TU Dresden, and her Research Associate Dr. Lars Förster will receive a €10,000 award as part of the eku - FUTURE PRI ZE 2022 for their planned learning and research workshop on the forward-looking topic of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). With this award, the Saxon State Ministry for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture honors projects that make an exemplary contribution to sustainable development in Saxony and to the protection of the climate, resources, nature and the environment. In addition, the award supports and makes visible the diverse commitment in Saxony and promotes communication with and between stakeholders.
What is the award-winning project of the Faculty of Education about? The Future Workshop for Sustainable Education (ZuNaBi) brings together students and teachers, scientists and practitioners as well as people from different disciplines to advocate for sustainable development and education. The fundamental goal is the in-depth implementation of ESD at TU Dresden in the field of education and beyond. "ZuNaBi is intended to be an inspiring place of encounter, exchange and an innovative educational space for everyone that creatively stimulates, deepens and inspires sustainable thinking and action," explains Knörzer. "The plan is to create an appealing, innovative educational space in the building initially at Weberplatz 5 - after the faculty has moved to Münchner Straße 1 - with sustainable, flexible furnishings and the latest technology. The room itself is designed to promote the topic of sustainability," adds Förster.
The ZuNaBi project was particularly convincing with its high innovation potential. "For the first time at a German university, an interdisciplinary, cross-institutional and cross-teaching university learning workshop is being created explicitly on the subject of ESD. With this new sustainable educational space, the Free State of Saxony and TU Dresden are pioneers for all phases of teacher training - first phase (studies), second phase (preparatory service) and third phase (further education and training) - and qualify teachers for this important area of education. And this applies to all types of schools," says Knörzer.
The event to present and honor the successful project ideas of the "eku - ZUKUNFTSPREIS 2022" took place with Wolfram Günther, Saxon State Minister for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture, on April 19, 2023 in Radebeul at the Conference Center of the Saxon Economy.
