New Title of the Chair

The Chair of Media Education will become the Chair of School Education / Media Education at TU Dresden. The chair has held this new title since January 1, 2026, when Prof. Dr. Andreas Spengler assumed his position. Prof. Dr. Spengler will share leadership of the Chair with Acting Professor Dr. Nadine Schaarschmidt until March 31, 2026.

Even under its new title, the Chair of Media Education remains responsible for media education content and media education research within the field of educational sciences. With its new title, it more clearly emphasizes the connection to the professionalization of media education and its structural integration into teacher education at TU Dresden (school pedagogy). The focus in the title (media education) accordingly refers to its substantive orientation, within which media education is emphasized as the overarching theory, practice, and goal of media pedagogy.
