New denomination of Chair

The Chair of Media Education becomes the Chair of School Education with a focus on media education at TU Dresden. The Chair has had this new denomination since January 1, 2026, when Prof. Dr. Andreas Spengler took up his post. Prof. Dr. Spengler will share the leadership of the Chair until 31.03.2026 with the deputy professor Dr. Nadine Schaarschmidt.

Under its new name, the Chair will remain responsible for media education content and media education research in educational science. With its new denomination, it makes clearer the reference to media education professionalization and its structural integration in teacher training at TU Dresden (school pedagogy). The focus in the name (media education) refers accordingly to its content orientation, in the context of which media education is emphasized as the theory, practice and goal of media education.

In addition to this background on the general orientation, information on the new, concrete priorities of the Chair will follow as part of the revision of the website.
