Long Night of Sciences: Rethinking school together

As part of the Long Night of Sciences, the Chair of School Pedagogy with a Focus on School Research invited visitors to share their perspectives on schooling and engage in conversation with our team.

Three flipcharts encouraged participants to reflect on the following questions:

• What was beneficial for you during your time at school?

• What should the school of the future look like?

• What should future teachers learn during their university education?

The many contributions highlighted the diversity of experiences, expectations, and ideas surrounding schools. Participants emphasized the importance of a positive learning environment with welcoming and well-designed classrooms, longer breaks, and practical, real-world learning opportunities. Above all, however, they stressed the importance of social relationships in school, including supportive peers and caring, approachable teachers.

The event provided an opportunity not only to gather valuable ideas and perspectives from the public but also to present the work of the Chair. Visitors learned about the work of the ELF, the Network on Psychological Violence, and the research projects CHIPS and Act4Mig.
