KAtLA - cooperative education in the technical teaching profession
TechLA+ (formerly KAtLA) is a study model for students of (selected) technical departments on the Teacher Training - Vocational Schools degree program without prior relevant vocational training. TechLA+ offers the opportunity to complete a one-year internship in a professional field as part of the teacher training course and to obtain a vocational qualification in the process. In this case, the standard period of study for the degree program is extended by two semesters.
The TechLA+ study option
In order to work as a teacher at a vocational school, it is very advantageous to have gained experience as an apprentice or trainee or at least in practical activities in a department. Vocational training or a one-year internship is therefore a prerequisite for the first state examination in Teacher Training - Vocational Schools.
TechLA+ (formerly KAtLA) is therefore of particular interest to students on the Teacher Training - Vocational Schools degree program without vocational training or with only limited practical work experience.
For (selected) technical departments, a work placement can be completed in these companies with the support of regional companies. This internship prepares students for the practical part of the final vocational training examination. Together with a theoretical examination, a vocational qualification can be obtained at the end of the internship.
The internship completed as part of the TechLA+ study option extends the standard period of study for the Teacher Training - Vocational Schools degree program by two semesters.
