Strategy
Humanities and Social Sciences at TU Dresden are taking an important position not only regarding the number of students enrolled, but also regarding the wide range of humanities subjects offered at a technical university, and the diversity in research. In the light of the societal challenges, they make a crucial contribution to providing guidance for the present and the future – by raising questions and questioning supposed certainties. In order to fulfil this pivotal role, they inevitably have to both open up not only at subject level, but also beyond national borders, and to remain attractive to their own early-career researchers within the country. The specific nature of the humanities and the social sciences, their at times highly individualised working methods, as well as their subject-related mode of multilingualism, are the basis for the pursuit of the Strategy of Internationalisation of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

TU Dresden – Connected to the World
The internationalisation strategy and the associated implementation plan are providing orientation during the internationalisation process. They define sustainable and common objectives, as well as name, supervise, co-coordinate, prioritise and link numerous activities. The internationalisation strategy ‘TU Dresden – Connected to the World’ outlines this process in four fields of action:
- Field of action 1: The internationalisation of studies and teaching
- Field of action 2: The internationalisation of research
- Field of action 3: General conditions for the internationalisation of teaching and research
- Field of action 4: Improving TU Dresden’s position on the international stage
The underlying objectives include improving visibility, generating synergies, converging activities towards the School’s internationalisation goals as well as enhancing the efficiency of research and teaching.
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences has developed a decentralised strategy paper that aligns with the above-mentioned overarching strategy ‘TU Dresden – Connected to the World’, and that sets the order of priorities and the focuses for our School. You will find more detailed information in the Internationalisation Strategy of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
