Ausbildung:
1982: Abitur („maturità“).
1982–1986: Studium der Klassischen Philologie an der Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia dell’ Università degli Studi di Siena; Abschluß („laurea“) mit einer Arbeit zu Tacitus’ Historiae.
1986–1990: Musikstudium (Klavier) am Istituto Comunale „R. Franci“ in Siena.
1990–1992: Doktoratsstudium in Klass. Philologie an den Universitäten Padua und Pavia.
1993: Promotion („dottore di ricerca“) mit einer Dissertation über Sallusts Historiae, angenommen vom Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione (in Rom).
Berufliche Laufbahn:
1992–1996: Lehrtätigkeit als Professor für Latein und Griechisch (im Beamtenverhältnis) am Liceo classico „A. Poliziano” in Montepulciano (SI).
1996–2003: wissenschaftlicher Assistent für Klassische Philologie an der Facoltà di Lettere e Filosofia dell’Università degli Studi di Siena; Schwerpunkte der Lehrtätigkeit: lateinische Sprache und Literatur, antike christliche Literatur.
2003–2004: Lehrtätigkeit wieder am Liceo classico „A. Poliziano“ in Montepulciano; 2004 Wechsel ans Liceo classico „Vittorio Emanuele II“ in Rom.
2004–2005, 2006–2007: wissenschaftliche Mitarbeit am Thesaurus linguae Latinae in München (mit Werkvertrag bzw. mit Stipendium des J. u. K. Müller-Thesaurus-Fonds).
2005–2007: Arbeit an einer kommentierten Edition der Papyrusfragmente Sallusts für das Corpus dei Papiri Storici (erschienen 2008), im Auftrag des Centro di Studi Papirologici dell’Università di Lecce-
26. April 2007: Unterzeichnung des Vertrags mit dem Verlagshaus Walter de Gruyter über eine kommentierte Werkausgabe der Historiae des Sallust (in Zusammenarbeit mit Prof. Antonio La Penna).
Okt. – Dez. 2007 und Jan. 2008 – August 2009: befristeter Forschungsvertrag mit der Venice International University im Rahmen des Projekts „Literature and Culture in the Ancient Mediterranean: Greece, Rome, and the Near East“: Arbeit an einer kommentierten Edition der Papyrusfragmente des Livius für das Corpus dei Papiri Storici (erschienen 2011), im Auftrag des Centro di Studi Papirologici dell’Università di Lecce.
1. Juli 2010 – 30. Juni 2013: Assoziation als Postdoktorand am Integrierten Graduiertenkolleg des Sonderforschungsbereichs 804 "Transzendenz und Gemeinsinn", mit Forschungsarbeiten zu den Historien Sallusts (wissenschaftliche Betreuung des Projektes: Herr Prof. F.-H. Mutschler): dazu, Arbeit an einer kommentierten Edition der Papyrusfragmente von den Adespota Latina für das Corpus dei Papiri Storici (im Druck befindlich), im Auftrag des Centro di Studi Papirologici dell’Università di Lecce; Arbeit an einer italienischen Übersetzung von der Monographie des Xenophon „Agesilaos“ (erschienen 2013).
1. Juli 2013 – 30. Juni 2015: Assoziation als Postdoktorand an der Technischen Universität Dresden, Lehrstuhl für Alte Geschichte (Herr Prof. M. Jehne) im Institut für Geschichte der Philosophischen Fakultät: Arbeit an einer kommentierten Edition von den „Historien“ des Sallust, deren 1. Band in Vorbereitung ist.
Art des Forschungsstipendiums:
Besondere Genehmigung, aus wissenschaftlichen Gründen (Doktorat usw.), von dem italienischen Gesetz berechtigte, mit Schulgehalt aus dem italienischen Staat.
Projekte:
Vom Verlag Walter de Gruyter wurde mir der ehrenvolle Auftrag erteilt, für die Reihe Texte und Kommentare die längst fällige Neuedition sämtlicher Fragmente der Historien Sallusts zu übernehmen (in neuer Anordnung, mit Übersetzung und ausführlichem Kommentar auf Italienisch). Eine vollständige Neuedition der Historien des Sallust ist ein dringendes Desiderat, da seit der Ausgabe von Berthold Maurenbrecher (Leipzig 1893) mehr als hundert Jahre vergangen sind. Die neuere kritische Sallustausgabe von Alfons Kurfess (Leipzig 1972) berücksichtigt nur eine sehr kleine Auswahl der Fragmente.
Wegen dieser genannten Erfahrung in Anbetracht der Lexikographie, Textkritik, Papyrologie, wendet sich meine aktuelle Tätigkeit in der Forschung nach der Textualität und der Geschichte der Texten, besonders in Bezug auf die Überlieferung im Altertum und Mittelalter.
Meine Unterrichtsmethode stützt sich auf Vorlesen und philologische sowie sprachliche und geschichtliche Erläuterung von Prosa- und Dichtungswerken.
