Besser, Jens
Seminar: Street Art
"Jens Besser is a graduate of the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts who increasingly reflects on street art from a theoretical perspective and places it in the tradition of early 20th-century Mexican muralism. As a creatively divided personality between art explainer, artist, and curator, he occupies a special position in a scene that likes to cultivate its outsider status." (Susanne Altmann in "hub - zur kunst" Leipzig 11/2009.)

Franz, M. Katharina
Übung: Lithographie
My name is M. Katharina Franz (*1987). Since March 2021, I have been managing the lithography workshop at the “Kulturforum riesa efau.” My degree in fine arts in 2019 was preceded by several other biographical milestones. Among other things, my work in theater and the cultural sector had a formative influence on me. During my graduate studies at the HfBK Dresden, I was able to focus particularly on a photographic copying technique within lithography and formally integrate it into my work. In addition to drawing, photography, and artist's books, I also use flat printing techniques in my own artistic work. For me, these media are by no means solely a means of artistic expression, but rather offer space for questions, failure, the process, and the resulting experience. In addition to my visual work, literature, philosophy, space, writing, and sound, among other things, play an important role.

Seminar: Geschichtliche und rezptionsästhetische Aspekte der Bildenden Kunst
Lawrenz, Bernd
Übung: Aktzeichnen
Essentially, students can acquire the ability to construct three-dimensional figures on a two-dimensional surface. This is achieved through carefully selected didactic exercises, which can then be transferred to free (nature-inspired) nude drawing and painting. Through unusual perceptual experiences and targeted references to existing or deliberately created surrounding space, the aim is to sensitize body awareness and achieve diverse creative interpretations of the respective figure-space situations. The spectrum of work results produced in the drawing and painting process ranges from realistic, anatomically accurate figure studies to symbolic alienations to experimental, structural, or freely invented correspondences for the physical.
Lichtenberg, Claudia
Übung: Collage
Claudia Lichtenberg studied art education and English for teaching at secondary schools at the Technical University of Dresden from 2004 to 2015, completed her teaching internship from 2016 to 2017, and has been working as a teacher at the Vitzthum Gymnasium in Dresden ever since.
As the daughter of an enamel designer, art has played a central role in her life since early childhood. In addition to her teaching activities, she has participated in exhibitions at the Halleschen Kunstverein e.V. and worked as an illustrator for publications by Mitteldeutscher Verlag.

Morgenstern, Jana
Übung: Malerei
“For many years, the Dresden-based artist has been exploring the question of abstraction based on a concrete object in her paintings, drawings, and prints—conceptually rigorous, yet formally open and curious.” (Agnes Matthias)
The course focuses on the specific artistic possibilities offered by painting: color, form, structure, space. Practical work sets in motion a process of discovery that becomes visible in the students' own artistic results.

Zaubitzer, Dietmar
Übung: Räumliches Zeichnen nach der Natur
The focus of the work is on developing ways of translating the spatial-plastic whole into a two-dimensional surface. Since the course is based on the laws of nature and imagery, students are expected to be capable of working in a process-oriented manner and to enjoy the laboratory-like nature of drawing. Image analysis can be used to stimulate artistic thinking.
Quandt, Kerstin
Übung: Druckgrafik
Printmaking is a visual art medium that has undergone continuous technical and aesthetic development and differentiation throughout its history. Due to its versatility, letterpress and intaglio printing are still among the most popular techniques today. Working with printmaking media requires knowledge of the fundamentals of design and an analytical, structured approach. By learning about the various techniques and their production processes, the special features of their aesthetic effects are experienced firsthand.
Kerstin Quandt is a freelance artist in Dresden (painting/graphics/drawing/object and video art/installation/performance).
Seeliger, Andreas
Übung: Fotografie
The course addresses the most important technical aspects of photography. The practical teaching focuses on analog and digital camera technology, film development and enlargement, image processing, and digital printing. In terms of content, the focus is on photography as a visual art form. The prerequisite for the artistic exploration of the medium is the development of an individual semester project. Working on a photographic series then offers the opportunity for thematic and media-specific exploration. Important artistic positions from the history of photography and the current photography scene are presented in a project-related manner, thus providing a stimulating background for experiments and conceptual strategies.
Thümmel, Kornelia
Übung: Portraitmodellieren
Exploring creative principles based on the anatomy of the human head, studying proportions, and translating these experiences into a three-dimensional image is the main approach to modeling a portrait. When we meet people, it is the face of the person opposite us that we first come into direct contact with. Face to face, we can recognize their inner state, character traits, vitality, or mentality. A portrait is therefore more than just the consideration of anatomical arrangements in creative work. At its best, it can reveal the inner self and thus be more than just an external resemblance to the model. The human counterpart serves as a guide in the search for a sculptural expression in clay, which is then molded and transferred to plaster.

Wahren, Sebastian
Seminar: Photoshop
This course teaches the basics of digital image editing using Photoshop software. The main content of the course covers work routines for designing digital collages and illustrations, as well as retouching and optimizing various types of digital image material. The analysis of digital image manipulation using selected works of art as examples serves as a communicative basis within the course and as inspiration for developing your own design ideas.
Wölk, Nadine
Übung: Malerei und Grafik
The content and objective of this course will be to explore the different levels of perception in pictorial representation by expanding traditional techniques with modern means of expression, such as neon paints, felt-tip pens, and spray paint.
Participants will learn the basic techniques of painterly representation, how to work with format cuts, image rhythm, and contrasts, and fundamental knowledge of image composition. With individual guidance, we will start with the basics of techniques, discuss exciting image composition, and move on to the artistic representation of an image idea.
