Biography
Born on August 22, 1953 in Würzburg; studies philosophy, catholic theology, German language and literature as well as indology at Würzburg University.
1973 - 1982: Assistant lecturer for philosophy at Würzburg; PhD in philosophy procedures with the paper: "Skepsis in der Aufklärung" (Skepticism in the Age of Enlightenment).
Studies for the doctorate in catholic theology and studies of philosophy, starting in the summer of 1983 in Passau, and in Munich between winter 84/85 and summer of 1986.
1976 – 79: Participated in the Advanced (graduate) Research Seminar at the Institute of Behavioral Research, Wuerzburg;
1979 – 1980: First state examination lectureship high school;
Since 1981: Organisation of Transdisciplinary Ecological oriented Research in the Board of “Student groups Development problems of Industrial Society” (Studiengruppe Entwicklungsprobleme der Industriegesellschaft STEIG ev.);
In 1982/83: Appointed as a Lecturer in the Department of Philosophy, University of Wuerzburg, Germany;
1985: Research Assistant at the Braunschweig University of technology dealing with the history of philosophy;
1986 – 1991: Chief Assistant at the Institute for Moral Theology at the University of Munch and collaboration with the Institute of Behavioral Research Munich/Seeweisen; Member of EU Commission ESLA zu UGO Brussels, incharge for ethical questions;
1986 – 1992: Member of DFG Special Research Areas of Bioethics;
1988 – 1993: Lecturer at the Gene Center for Philosophy of Biotechnology and Bioethics in Munich/Martinsried;
1985 – 1998: University Lecturer at the Education Center (Volkshochschule) Munich, at the Education Center Siegen 1992-93. EU financed Research Project for Human genetics consultation in 4 European countries with Prof. H. Domdey (Gene Center, Munich/Martinsried);
Conferment of a doctorate in theology at Würzburg University in 1991;
1992/1993: Scientific assistant at the institute for systematic theology at Siegen University/College;
Since October 1st, 1993 professorship for philosophy on technology at Dresden technological university;
1996: Habilitation in philosophy at Bamberg University;
1999/2002: Director of the "Centre for interdisciplinary technological research", 2001/2003 Director of the institute of philosophy;
