About the Chair

About the Professorship

Theoretical philosophy asks what we can know, how linguistic meaning comes about, and how the reality we speak and judge about is constituted. At this professorship these questions are pursued by the methods of analytic philosophy: conceptual analysis, the testing of arguments, and exchange with neighbouring disciplines.

In teaching, the professorship carries the foundational training in epistemology, philosophy of language, and logic, and so contributes to all the institute's programmes — Bachelor, Master, and teacher training alike. An overview of current courses is available under Studies, and current projects under Research.

The professorship is currently vacant and an appointment procedure is under way. Until it is filled, the chair is being covered by a deputy, so that teaching and supervision continue without interruption.
