Krakow
The former residence of the Polish kings has not lost any of its grandeur. This becomes apparent during a walk along the old market place (rynek) with its famous cloth halls or through the Jewish quarter Kazimierz. Besides the beauty of the town, the impressing old university buildings of the Jagiellonian University may be of particular interest for any of our students in Cracow, especially as our partner institute in Cracow, the Institute of Inventiveness and Intellectual Property (Instytut Wynalazczości i Ochrony Własnosności Intelektualnej), is one of them. But Cracow is not only a beautiful university town which enjoys a long tradition of educating the best law students in Poland, but it also has got an exciting student and night life.
Winter semester in Krakow:
The Instytut Wynalazczości i Ochrony Własnosności in Cracow is one of the renowned institutes for Intellectual Property Law in Europe. Our students in Cracow choose what subjects of study and research to focus on according to their language skills:
Students having very good knowledge of the Polish language will probably take advantage of the whole range of lectures and seminars offered by the institute. The institute consists of five departments covering all fields of Polish and European IP law, such as patent and copyright law, but also media and competition law.
Students who still seek to improve their language skills in Polish may choose English lectures introducing them to Polish law in general and work on their choosen Polish IP classes with the assistance of language courses and Polish tutors.
The final thesis on the end of the semester in Cracow may be written in Polish or English.
