„Core human rights issues in Uganda: national commitment to international norms“ – Event two Ugandan Human rights activists and opposition politicians, 3 Feb 2023, 2:30 pm, GER/037
At German universities, human rights are often dealt with primarily from the perspective of the Global North.
To complement this incomplete perspective, we are very much looking forward to the exchange with our guests, who will share with us their perspective on current issues and challenges in human rights work in Uganda and the concept of "universal human
rights".
Her Worship Nyanjura Doreen, is a gender scholar and activist in the fight for Women, Youth and persons with disabilities rights. She is also the Executive Secretary for Trade of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) an opposition political party in Uganda as well as the Deputy Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City.
Samuel Makokha is the party secretary of the same party as well as a board member of the NGO "Voices for Labor", which campaigns for workers' rights in Uganda.
The event of around 1.5 hrs will be followed by an informal get-together with a buffet.
The language of this event will be English.
For buffet planning, please notify your presence at: katrin.boerner@tu-dresden.de
