Chair of Macro-Sociology

Society as an economically, politically and socially organised form of coexistence of many people is subject to constant change. In this sense, we understand macrosociology as the description and explaining analysis of collective social phenomena, structures, and processes across society as a whole.

We are committed to the study of social interrelations and social processes that guide individuals in their actions, and shape and characterise social coexistence in a society.

From a macro-sociological perspective, our Chair focuses on the analysis of social structures, processes and mechanisms that create interdependencies between the different social sectors. Our research focuses include the relationship between work and education in times of globalisation, social inequality and social change, as well as the comparative analyses of social structures in Germany.
