Dominik Schrage is professor of Sociological Theories and Cultural Sociology. Gabriele Naumann is our secretary, academic staff members are Dr. Sonja Engel, Mirjam Gräbner and Pauline Dunkel. Julia Harms is our student assistant.

The chair is responsible for the lectures on Sociological Theories (BA Sociology and Major Sociology) and for the key areas on Cultural Sociology in BA and MA in Sociology.

Our research focuses on the areas of Sociological Theories (including Cultural Theory and History of Sociological Thought) and Cultural Sociology (with special emphasis on aesthetic, technological and object-related aspects of cultural modernity). We are especially interested in Sociology of the Media, of Consumption and of Auditive Culture.
