Certificate for evening school
Can I get a certificate for attending evening classes?
The evening school is a continuing education program that can be utilized in various ways. Some participants may choose to watch only individual episodes, while others may wish to earn a continuing education certificate for this program. To earn a certificate, you must have watched and completed the pre- and post-course work for at least 10 evening school modules (equivalent to a one-semester college course) and pass a final exam for the course. The exam is designed as a take-home exam and can be conveniently completed from home.
What questions will be asked?
We are aware that, depending on your field of work, you have set your own priorities when attending the evening school. This means that people who work with children will watch the children’s plays. People from an adult education center context are less likely to do so. Instead, you have almost certainly seen our wonderful play on political adult education. We have therefore designed the exam so that you select 10 out of 15 subject areas and complete assignments only in the selected areas.
The exam consists of 12 questions. Three of these relate to your reflection on your learning process during your time at the evening school. Nine questions relate to the lectures. You can decide for yourself which of the nine lectures you would like to answer questions about.
The tasks are formulated to assess competencies. This means that, as a rule, you will not be given knowledge-based tasks, but rather application and reflection tasks. For orientation and preparation, you can review the self-assessment tasks again. However, we also highly recommend taking a look at the supplementary reading materials compiled for each lecture.
When can I take the exam?
In the summer of 2026, the process will be as follows:
On July 15, 2026, you will receive the exam. Our goal is for the exam—just like the JoDDiD evening school—to be flexible and tailored to your needs. Therefore, you have until July 21 to complete the exam. You can choose a convenient time within that week, take breaks, and even listen to entire pieces again. You must send us your results by July 21 at the latest.
If this has piqued your interest in the exam, please feel free to register by sending an email to stilla.stitz@tu-dresden.de.
What continuing education certificate can I earn?
You will receive a continuing education certificate from TU Dresden confirming your successful participation in a one-semester continuing education module in the field of political and democratic education. The certificate will list the selected thematic focuses from the take-home exam. Since this is a university module, if you are enrolled at another institution of higher education, you are welcome to check with your own institution to see if the continuing education module can be recognized as part of your degree program.
