Office hours:
Feriensprechzeiten: 29.07.24 und 08.08.24, sowie nach Vereinbarung.
Contact can be made either by email or in person. In both cases, the first step is to clarify
- Which subject area are you interested in?
- What question should be addressed with regard to this subject area? Which problem, which puzzle should be solved in the work?
Exposé
As a result of this initial exchange of ideas or as an initial structuring of your ideas when you make contact, you work on the 11-point plan for preparing a thesis as an exposé, which you can also download from our study notes.
Supervision
On the basis of the - possibly revised - synopsis, you will then receive continuous supervision that is just as close as the author of the thesis would like.
Please note: The outline is only created once the main features of the answer to the topic question are clear and the work is ready to be written.
Formal requirements for the written thesis
When writing your thesis, please observe the applicable instructions for writing academic papers at the Chair and in particular the guidelines for writing academic papers. Please note the following:
- Complete title page (name of the university, name of the institute, names of both supervisors, agreed title of the thesis, name of the student, date of submission, matriculation number, e-mail, postal address)
- Complete lists: Table of contents, bibliography, list of appendices if applicable, list of figures, etc.
- Compliance with formatting and style requirements. The font to be used for the written paper is Times New Roman, font size 12 pt, 1.5 line spacing, justification and a margin of 2.5 inches on the left and 3.5 inches on the right (page formatting). The required length (excluding title page and lists, appendix, etc.) is 15,000-18,000 words for a Bachelor's thesis and 18,000-21,000 words for a Master's thesis.
- Declaration of independence
Further information can also be found in the 11-point plan for preparing a thesis.
Good luck!
