The new MIDEM Policy Paper provides a comprehensive overview of international research on depolarization strategies. It shows that while many interventions yield short-term effects, these often fade quickly. Reforms that address the structural framework conditions of democratic politics are particularly sustainable—even if they are especially challenging to implement politically.
