Description

Die Vorlesung gibt einen Überblick über die Kunst vom Ende des 16. bis zur Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts – von der Gegenreformation bis zur Aufklärung. Die Kunstwerke dieser Zeit bedienten sich im Dienste sakraler wie profaner Propaganda einer ausgefeilten visuellen Rhetorik. Zugleich brachten sie zunehmend die individuellen Vorstellungen und künstlerischen Ansprüche ihrer Schöpfer zum Ausdruck, die sich in dieser Zeit verstärkt von ihrem traditionellen Status als Handwerker zu emanzipieren suchten. Damit etablierte sich allmählich die Vorstellung von der Autonomie des Künstlers. Parallel dazu entwickelte sich der moderne Kunstmarkt, der seinerseits maßgeblichen Einfluss auf die Produktion und Rezeption von Kunst gewann.

Die Vorlesung behandelt – überwiegend in monographischer Form – ausgewählte Werke der Architektur und der Bildkünste. An ihnen lassen sich exemplarisch übergreifende Phänomene und Zusammenhänge der Epoche aufzeigen und zugleich unterschiedliche kunsthistorische Methoden erproben.

Die Vorlesung gibt einen Überblick über bedeutende Werke und wichtige Themen der Kunst des hohen Mittelalters. Die Veranstaltung ist als Europareise angelegt, die am Speyerer Dom als europäischem Hauptwerk der romanischen Architektur beginnt, über weitere bedeutende bild- und baukünstlerische Zentren zwischen Spanien und Byzanz sowie England und Sizilien führt, und beim Meißner Dom als regionalem Hauptwerk gotischer Architektur, Skulptur und Glasmalerei schließt. Die Vorlesung ist Teil einer dreiteiligen Reihe von Überblicksvorlesungen zur Kunst des Mittelalters, die im nächsten Semester mit einem Blick auf die Kunst des späten Mittelalters fortgesetzt wird.

Description

Im Seminar setzen sich die Studierenden mit kontroversen Fällen aus der Schulpraxis auseinander, die Fragen von Demokratie, Diversität und gesellschaftlichem Zusammenhalt aufwerfen. Ausgehend von einem kasuistischen Ansatz werden die Fälle multiperspektivisch analysiert und zum Ausgangspunkt ästhetischer Forschungsprozesse. In eigenen künstlerischen Arbeiten werden die Fallkonstellationen untersucht, transformiert und aus neuen Perspektiven befragt. Dabei werden spezifisch künstlerische Verfahren als eigenständige Formen der Erkenntnisgewinnung und Reflexion gesellschaftlicher Konflikte erprobt.

Exkursionen zu Kunst- und Erinnerungsorten in Dresden und Berlin erweitern die Seminararbeit und eröffnen Perspektiven auf Demokratiebildung im Spannungsfeld von Kunst, Öffentlichkeit und Vermittlung. Ziel des Seminars ist es, künstlerische Zugänge zu gesellschaftlichen Konflikten zu entwickeln und deren Potenziale für den Kunstunterricht zu reflektieren. Den Abschluss des Seminars bildet eine öffentliche Präsentation der entwickelten Arbeiten. Diese macht die Ergebnisse der ästhetischen Forschungsprozesse sichtbar und lädt dazu ein, die künstlerischen Perspektiven auf demokratische Konflikt- und Aushandlungssituationen gemeinsam zu diskutieren.

Das Seminar ist Teil des hochschulübergreifenden Forschungs- und Entwicklungsprojekts „Kasuistische Demokratiebildung im Lehramt“, in dem kasuistische Lehr-Lernformate im Sinne eines Design-Based-Research-Ansatzes weiterentwickelt und erprobt werden. Die im Seminar entstehenden künstlerischen Arbeiten fließen in diesen Forschungszusammenhang ein.
