12.10.2024 Panel discussion THE ARTIST with Jasmin Höning, DIE BÜHNE - Das Theater der TU Dresden
On Saturday, October 12, 2024, a panel discussion with our Research Associate Jasmin Höning will take place at DIE BÜHNE - DAS THEATER DER TU DRESDEN to accompany the 2024/2025 season theme "THE ARTIST".
Together with Prof. Dr. Florian Alexander Schmidt, Chair of Design Conception and Media Theory, HTW Dresden, Dr. Lars Engeln, staff member at the Chair of Media Design (TUD), Prof. Dr. Stefan Scherbaum, Chair of Psychological Methods and Cognitive Modelling (TUD) and Dr. Gunter Lösel, Research Associate at the Zurich University of the Arts, Jasmin Höning will address the topic "THE ARTIST - Being an artist in times of 'intelligent' technology".
Her lecture will take a close look at "Identity negotiations through self-portraits in AI art": Self-portraits have a long tradition in art history, which in the current digital age has led to new types of self-portraits thanks to the recent emergence of AI technologies. What possibilities of identity representation arise from generative AI? What breaks in representation does this type of self-representation entail and what identity extensions are exploited by generative AI? This art-scientific contribution explores such questions relating to the interweaving of the artistic self with AI technology in the context of current debates in society as a whole.
The panel starts at 15:00. Admission is free.
The performance "Lost in Space" with an AI-generated contribution by Stefan Scherbaum and Gunter Lösel will follow in the evening.
Both events will be held in German.
