Marie Briese Hosts Networking Meeting on “Ideological Influencing”
Together with Jasmin Eder (University of Erfurt, AIWG), doctoral candidate Marie Briese organized the second networking meeting for researchers in the field of worldview and social media. From October 15 to 17, 2025, nearly 20 researchers from various disciplines met in Erfurt and online to present their research on religions and social media.
The networking meeting took place as part of an ITS colloquium and was funded by the Academy for Islam in Science and Society (AIWG). The program included a keynote by Prof. Dr. Simon Meier-Vieracker (TUD), a workshop on mindful social media research by Kai-Annabelle Pötzsch (TUD), and a lecture by Johannes Fröh (University of Bonn) on research law best practices in light of GDPR and platform rights. Fellow Marie Briese was not only involved in organizing the event but also presented the current status of her doctoral project titled “Intertextuality in Christfluencing: Functions of Referencing the Bible by Fundamentalist and Right-Wing Populist Influencers on Instagram.”
Marie Brieses thanks go to all those involved and to the sponsors of the networking meeting.
