The symposium "Unpacking Generativity. Epistemology, Politics and Aesthetics of Generative AI Systems" on October 7 - participation is possible on site in Dresden and will also be streamed via Zoom - is dedicated to the critical examination of generative AI systems from an interdisciplinary perspective: The focus is on three thematic blocks: Epistemology, politics and aesthetics.
The aim is to grasp the social significance and impact of generative AI not only in technical terms, but also to locate it in the field of tension between knowledge systems, political economy and visual culture.
How can current AI systems be understood as generative technologies beyond their technical functionality? What is made visible by these systems, what remains invisible or is actively excluded? What political, cultural and epistemic implications does the generativity of algorithmic media entail? The multi-perspective approach of the event aims to explore these questions through international expert contributions. Each thematic block will include a keynote and two lightning talks.
Registration is open until October 2 here.
