Subject area: Political science
Core research areas: Political theory, political economy, blockchain, media studies, post-Soviet studies

Abstract
The thesis builds a political theory of blockchain, responding to ongoing socio-technical challenges of liberal democracy. The project focuses on entanglements between blockchain technology, neoliberal theory and ideologies from Silicon Valley since the late 1980s. In this relationship between politics, economics and technology, a political thinking develops whose elements are to be explored genealogically and politically theoretically in this dissertation project. The guiding question is what kind of political models have been formulated at the intersection between politics, economics, law and technology since the 1980s.
