North American Literature with a Focus on Future Studies
The Chair of North American Literature with a Focus on Future Studies offers introductory and advanced seminars on the study of literatures and cultural production (incl. film, art, media) from the U.S., Canada, and Indigenous Nations. Students are introduced to the methodologies of literary and cultural analysis and will engage with key themes in North American culture from the 18. to the 21. century. A particular focus lies on critical approaches to human-technology-environment relationships and the inclusive imagination of speculative futures against the background of the climate emergency and technocultural transformations.
