Bella Italia – Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Dresden State Art Collections) Celebrates “Italian Autumn” Together with the Semperoper and the Dresden Philharmonic

Dresden and Italy share a cultural history spanning centuries. Even the Saxon electors were passionate about Italian art and brought painters, sculptors, and architects from Italy to Dresden. To this day, this influence is evident in the cityscape and cultural life—in the magnificent Baroque architecture as well as in the world-famous art collections and musical traditions. The names “Florence on the Elbe” and “The Little Italian Village,” along with the city’s sister-city partnership with Florence, which has existed since 1978, bear witness to this long-standing relationship.

Building on this tradition, the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Dresden State Art Collections) are turning their attention to “Bella Italia” this fall. In addition to the major exhibition highlight “Correggio: Touchingly Human,” numerous presentations and events will explore various aspects of Italian art and culture.
