war im SS 1996 zunächst als Lehrstuhlvertreterin, dann ab WS 1997/98 bis zu ihrer Pensionierung im September 2004 als Professorin für Großbritannienstudien am Institut für Anglistik und Amerikanistik der Fakultät LSK tätig.

Lehrgebiet    Politische, ökonomische, soziale und kulturelle Geschichte Großbritanniens mit Schwerpunkt 19. und 20. Jh. sowie Aspekte der Gegenwartskultur von Fragen der kulturellen Identität über Geschlechterfragen bis zu wichtigen Phänomenen der Hoch- und Populärkultur.    Besondere Aktivitäten im Zusammenhang mit der Lehre  

  • Durchführung eines vom British Council geförderten Lehrprojekts „Work, Leisure, Unemployment“, das regelmäßige   Seminare beinhaltete sowie drei Exkursionen in den Nordosten Englands (zusammen mit Prof. Peter Drexler von der Universität Potsdam und in Zusammenarbeit mit Professor Fred Robinson von der University of Durham).
  • Einrichtung und Durchführung eines vom DAAD finanzierten ISAP-Austauschprogramms für jährlich je drei Studierende und eine Lehrperson mit dem Englischen Seminar der University of Pune/Indien.
  • Einladung einer recht großen Zahl von AutorInnen und anderen Persönlichkeiten mit Hilfe des British Council (u.a. Jackie Kay, Amryl Johnson, Romesh Gunesekera, Toby Litt, Alan Sillitoe, der britische Botschafter Sir Lever).
