Guest lecture Dr. Diana Haußmann 18.06.18
The Berlin-based novelist Dr. Diana Haußmann spoke on 18 June 2019 as part of Prof. Böhm's seminar "Littératures francophones de l'extrême contemporain". She analyzed the multi-award-winning debut novel L'Intérieur de la nuit by Cameroonian author Leonora Miano with regard to its depiction of an Africa in crisis.
Léonora Miano is regarded as an astute diagnostician of persistent colonial structures and their effects on postcolonial subjects. In her novels, she takes a critical look at 'African' identity narratives. Her debut work, described by the French literary magazine Lire as the best debut work of 2005, was awarded numerous prizes, including the Prix Montalembert du premier roman de femme (2006), the Prix Réné Fallet (2006) and the Prix de l'excellence camerounaise (2007).
