The multi-award-winning and internationally acclaimed Quebec author Audrée Wilhelmy presented her second novel published in German, *Bluthaut* ( original title: *Peau-de-Sang*, Éditions Le Tripode), for which she received the prestigious Prix Ringuet in 2024.
In it, she combines poetic language with the highly topical themes of female self-determination and freedom.
The presentation of Audrée Wilhelmy’s second novel translated into German, *Bluthaut*, took place at the Institute français’s new location.
During the event, the Canadian author discussed central themes of her work with an engaged audience—including the juxtaposition of a goose slaughterhouse with forms of sexual desire, the novel’s draw on timeless and place-less fairy tales, and the deliberately ambiguous gender roles.
Wilhelmy read selected passages in French; the German translation was read by Imke Heine. The discussion, moderated by Bettina Lindorfer, was interpreted by Violaine Varin.
