Lecture Prof. Dr. habil. Sonja Hnilica: The Haussmannization of Paris
Prof. Dr. habil. Sonja Hnilica (Chair of Architectural History and Architectural Theory, Faculty of Architecture) teaches and researches the theory and history of architecture and the city.
She publishes on the history of architecture and urban planning from the 19th to the 21st century and also works as an exhibition curator.
She talks about the modernization of Paris by Baron Haussmann in the 19th century, whose radical approach to urban planning was heavily criticized by many of her contemporaries. In addition to the creation of the metropolitan boulevards, the Paris World's Fairs, the halls, the railroad and other innovations will also be discussed.
As part of the lecture Paris, cultural capital of the 19th century by PD Dr. Bettina Lindorfer.
