According to the Teacher Examination Regulations (LAPO I), a stay abroad of at least three months is required as part of the teacher training courses. If necessary, this period can also be divided into longer periods.
The stay abroad usually takes the form of partial study abroad (mainly via the ERASMUS program), work as a foreign language assistant (PAD), an internship or other activities that serve to develop foreign language and cultural skills.
It is advisable to take a semester off so that this period does not count towards the standard period of study. As the stay abroad is compulsory for your studies, child benefit can continue to be paid despite the leave of absence. You can obtain confirmation of this from the student advisor.
Confirmation is provided by the student advisor on the basis of evidence brought along (e.g. employment contracts, Erasmus certificate, etc.). The recognition of academic achievements abroad must also be discussed and applied for with the academic advisor.
Independently of this, students of French/Italian in teacher training courses with a state degree can apply for recognition of a stay in the supplementary area.
To do this, the application form must be completed in full and then submitted with the necessary report to the lecturer for French, Ms. Florence Walter, or the lecturer for Italian, Mr. Enrico Serena, in person during office hours for examination.
