Memories for the future. An ego document of the Czech avant-garde by Karel Honzík
In the run-up to the 2019 Leipzig Book Fair, whose guest country is the Czech Republic, a German-language edition of Karel Honzík's memoirs is being produced: "Ze života avantgardy. Zážitky architektovy | From the life of the avant-garde. The experiences of an architect".
The architect and architectural theorist Honzík (1900-1966) was one of the central figures of the Czech and international avant-garde. His memoirs provide a fascinating insight into the development of Czech modern architecture - the so-called 'white modernism' that inspired the world in the 1920s and 1930s, but for which there have been few sources in German to date. This edition makes one of the most important of these sources available in German for the first time and makes it known in the German-speaking world. At the same time, it provides an insight into one of the most exciting chapters in Czech cultural history.
The translation was done by Anne Hultsch.
