New study by IHK and IHI business ethicists - the F.A.Z. reports
Prominent representatives of German companies have spoken out against the AfD, such as Reinhold Würth, founder of the screw manufacturer of the same name, Bonita Grupp, co-head of the textile manufacturer Trigema, Sebastian Ebel, head of the tour operator TUI, and Christian Kullmann, head of the chemical company Evonik. Should company leaders make political statements? And how are their positions received by the public? These questions are the subject of a study by the Institute of German Business (IW) in cooperation with the International Institute (IHI) Zittau of the TUD Dresden University of Technology. According to the study, criticism from companies does not cause AfD supporters to turn away from the party. "If AfD sympathizers are confronted with AfD criticism from managing directors, trust in the company in question decreases," write the study authors Knut Bergmann and Matthias Diermeier from the IW and Benedikt Kapteina and Markus Scholz from the IHI Zittau.
