Leadership Update at the ILK: Newly Formed ILK Board Enters 2026
The board of the institute (L to R): Barbara Röllig, Dr. Sebastian Spitzer, Prof. Niels Modler, Prof. Maik Gude, Dr. Jörn Jaschinski and Dr. Robert Kupfer.
At the beginning of the year, the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at TU Dresden is pleased to announce that it will continue its work under a newly appointed leadership board. In 2026, the ILK Board will guide the institute across its three pillars—teaching, research, and transfer—ensuring a forward-looking and sustainable orientation while further advancing the institute’s successful development.
Prof. Maik Gude serves as the Director of the Institute, responsible for overall management and the strategic direction of the ILK. Prof. Niels Modler, who has been seconded to the Executive Board of TU Dresden as Vice-Rector Academic Affairs Across the Life Course, will remain closely connected to the ILK as an associate member during his term.
In connection with Prof. Niels Modler’s secondment, the interim professorship is jointly held by Dr. Jörn Jaschinski, responsible for Technology and Infrastructure, and Dr. Sebastian Spitzer, responsible for Scientific Development and Internationalization. The ILK Board is further complemented by PD Robert Kupfer, Senior Researcher with a focus on Circular Economy, and Ms. Barbara Röllig, Head of Human Resources and Project Administration.
With this newly appointed leadership team, the ILK looks ahead to a year defined by modern teaching, scientific excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and sustainable progress. In this spirit, the institute will continue to fulfill its responsibilities in the coming year with high professional and societal commitment, while jointly developing new impulses with its partners.
