April 29, 2024: "German wunderkind" and internationally sought-after AI pioneer talks about the importance of artificial intelligence
- April 29, 2024, starting at 6:00 pm
- Schönfeld Auditorium of the Barkhausen Building at the TUD Dresden University of Technology, Georg-Schumann-Straße 13, 01067 Dresden
With applications such as ChatGPT, artificial intelligence is one of the megatopics of our time, is already permeating various areas of life - and will have a decisive impact on our everyday lives in the future. Dr. Richard Socher is an exceptional figure in this field - he is one of the few Germans who has been at the forefront of this field for many years, both as a researcher and company founder, now lives in Silicon Valley and is one of the most important international voices for artificial neural networks in speech processing, among other things. On April 26, Richard Socher will receive an honorary doctorate from the TUD for his achievements in the research field of AI, in particular generative AI and the link with linguistics.
The AI pioneer, founder and CEO of you.com and Dresden-born Socher will share his insights and experience on April 29, 2024, starting at 6 p.m., in the Schönfeld Lecture Hall of the Barkhausen Building at the T UD Dresden University of Technology (TUD). The laudatory speech will be given by Prof. Lars Bernard, Chief Officer Digitalization and Information Management (CDIO) at TUD.
As part of the TUD's "Frontiers in Science" event series, Socher will give a lecture followed by a discussion on "The Eureka Machine - How AI Will Accelerate Scientific Discovery", in which he will talk about why AI is not a general threat, how we can shape it and what responsibility we have to take in the face of AI. The lecture will be held in English and will be streamed live.
