More of it! BeWise conference inspires female scientists
From April 15 to 17, the Barcelò Hotel Dresden was once again the meeting place for around 85 female scientists from a wide range of disciplines. Under the motto "Women in Science and Engineering (BeWise)", the English-language conference offered a platform for exchange, networking and career development for the sixth time. The event was organized by the Unit Diversity Management in cooperation with several DFG-coordinated programmes, clusters of excellence and the Barkhausen Institute.
Workshops, coaching and role models - the three-day conference offered participants a varied program. The fireside evening was particularly inspiring, where female professors shared their experiences and gave personal insights into their careers. These personal conversations inspired the female scientists and showed how diverse and successful career paths in science can be.
At the end of the second day, the female scientists were extremely enthusiastic, inspired and happy to have taken part in the BeWISE conference despite their busy projects and many commitments. They were delighted that the conference not only provided new impetus for their scientific projects, but also offered space for reflection and personal development. In the end, everyone agreed: BeWise is a win-win situation across the board and more offers and formats like this are needed. The conference thus remains a unique offer that strengthens, inspires and supports female scientists on their career path in the long term.
