New faculty management for Mechanical Engineering

At the January meeting of the Faculty Board, Prof. Thorsten Schmidt was elected Dean by a large majority. Thorsten Schmidt is Chair of Material Handling and has been Vice-Dean of the Faculty since 2020. He succeeds Prof. Michael Beckmann, who has headed the faculty for the past six years.

Prof. Thomas Wallmersperger, Chair of Mechanics of Multifunctional Structures, was re-elected Vice-Dean and will continue his work on the Faculty Executive Board. Prof. Hans Christian Schmale, who heads the Chair of Joining Technology and Assembly at the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering, was newly elected to the office of Vice-Dean.

The previous Deans of Studies of the Faculty of Mechanical Science and Engineering are in office until 31.03.2026 in accordance with Section 32 (5) of the TUD election regulations and will be newly elected at the end of the current winter semester.
