Award for cutting-edge research: Prof. Jens Lienig receives ISPD Lifetime Achievement Award 2026
Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Jens Lienig was awarded the ISPD Lifetime Achievement Award 2026 on March 17, 2026 in Bonn.
Prof. Jens Lienig, scientist at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was awarded the ISPD Lifetime Achievement Award 20 26 in Bonn on March 17, 2026. This prize is awarded annually as part of the International Symposium on Physical Design (ISPD) and recognizes exceptional contributions to research in the field of design automation of electronic assemblies.
Recognition of his research career
The current core research areas of Prof. Lienig, who holds the Chair of Development and Construction in Electromechanical and Electronic Design at TU Dresden, are precision engineering and device technology, design automation in electronics (EDA) as well as the development and expansion of design methods and design tools for electronic and precision engineering assemblies. The ISPD particularly honored his research achievements in the field of design automation, but also his contributions to student education and his highly regarded textbooks.
Ceremonial presentation at the ISPD 2026
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Lienig at ISPD 2026, which took place for the first time in Germany (Bonn) from March 15 to 18, 2026. The conference, which is considered one of the world's leading events in the field of layout design automation, provided a special platform to honor Lienig's lifetime achievement. A celebratory event was held in his honor, in which scientists from the USA, the United Arab Emirates and Germany gave presentations on his contributions and their influence on research. In his acceptance speech, Prof. Lienig touched on various stages of his career and concluded by saying that he was "very touched and full of gratitude for the colleagues and collaborators who have supported him".
