Korean delegation at the TU Dresden. Visit of the JBNU President Dr. O-Bong Yang
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), an important acteur in the Jeonju region of Korea, currently increasingly looking for international contacts in Europe, approached the ILK in 2022. In August 2022, the now former president Prof. Dong-Won Kim, accompanied by the core team of the JBNU International Office, visited the ILK and signed a MoU for future cooperation with our institute. As a result, a series of education-oriented exchange and mobility activities between JNBU and ILK started in 2023: a winter school for JBNU students was held at ILK in February. Prof. Dong-Won Kim is spending his sabbatical at the ILK from June to the end of the year and conducting research together with Dr. Sebastian Spitzer's team (Expert Group Lightweight Design) on a new advanced adaptive control method for adjusting the tool feed rate during machining. Last but not least a trial study summer school on sustainable lightweight engineering for highly talented Korean students is planned for July.
This series will be completed by the visit of the TU Dresden by the new president of JBNU, Dr. O-Bong Yang, again accompanied by the International Office of JBNU: Prof. DongHeon Lee (Vice President for Academic Affairs) and Prof. Hwa Rim Cho (Vice President for International Cooperation), on July 5th, 2023. The delegation's primary interest is to discuss and expand beyond the ILK the possible cooperation, e.g. in the form of student and faculty exchange or double degree program and other proven academic programs in international education, as well as joint research projects.
