The annual room acoustics meeting „Bauen heisst Hören“ will take place on 10.11.2023. Prof. Altinsoy gives a keynote on the recent achievements from the ZIM-Project „Sound Absorption of Distributed Mode Absorbers“ and CeTI. The event will be online live streamt. See article
On April 20th, Prof. Altinsoy will give a lecture on "Human perception and its importance for sound design". He will give an overview of the professorship's research as part of the CeTI and Schaufler Lab collaboration.
The determination of user expectations plays a crucial role for the systematic design of the communication with acoustic and haptic devices. Apart from auditory events also visual as well as tactile and haptic events need to be taken into account.
General basics of acoustics and haptics are taught, namely for the information technology specialization or for a specialization in the field of acoustics as well as for neighboring disciplines. The courses cover the entire range of acoustics, ie physical acoustics, auditory and speech acoustics, electroacoustics and room acoustics.
As part of the research focus on vibro-acoustics, we first address the question of how hearing actually happens when we simultaneously perceive tactilely. This knowledge also finds application in the area of system and product design and contributes significantly to the development of acoustic-auditory measurement methods.
Ercan Altinsoy is the Head of the Chair of Acoustic and Haptic Engineering.
