Lecture Signalanalyse (signal analysis)

Content

Signal analysis is used to extract relevant information or features from signals (e.g. audio, image and bio-signals), which form the basis for subsequent further processing, e.g. the classification of the signals (see lecture on Pattern Recognition). We focus on signals that play a role in human-machine interfaces, including audio and speech signals, image signals and electrical biosignals (brain and muscle signals). We will also learn about methods such as Principal Component Analysis (for dimensionality reduction) and Independent Component Analysis (for blind source separation). The lecture will be rounded off by demonstrating current methods for recognizing or synthesizing speech from “silent” speech movements.

The lecture language can be English or German and will be determined in the first lecture.
