Junior Professorship of Haptic Communication Systems
Visiting address:
Barkhausenbau Georg-Schumann-Straße 11
01187 Dresden
Since July 2021, Giang T. Nguyen has been an Assistant Professor, heading the Junior Professorship of Haptic Communication Systems, Cluster of Excellence CeTI (Center for Tactile Internet with Human-in-the-Loop) at TU Dresden. His research focuses on networked systems’ low latency, flexibility, and resilience to facilitate haptic communication.
I am interested in making networked systems fast, flexible, and resilient. The goal is to facilitate simultaneous communication of multiple modalities, such as audio, video, and especially haptic. Their requirements are vastly different regarding bandwidth, latency, and reliability. Since the current Internet can only provide best-effort services, I work on new protocols for service differentiation via In-Network Computing and Programmable Networking. I leverage virtualization technologies, such as Network Function Virtualization and Software-Defined Networking, as well as Programmable Data Planes (e.g., with P4).
