The Chair
The Chair of Information Theory and Machine Learning (ITML) focuses on the theoretical description and analysis of communications systems. Since October 2022 it is led by Prof. Rafael F. Schaefer and emerged from the Chair of Communications Theory (Prof. Eduard A. Jorswieck, Prof. Adolf Finger).
Chair of Information Theory and Machine Learning
Our work is centered around the field of information theory. It forms the basis and provides the tools for our research, which, among others, includes novel technologies in wireless communications, aspects of security and privacy in communications systems, and machine learning.
We provide various courses within foundational, mandatory and elective modules (“Grundlagen-, Pflicht-, Wahlpflichtmodule”) and seminars (“Haupt-, Oberseminar”) in all degree programs of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering. These cover topics such as system theory, information theory, communication theory, and machine learning.
