Lateral entry

The Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering does not offer a German-language Master's degree program, but it is possible to (cross-)enter one of our diploma programs in a higher semester if you have already study achievements from other universities. Entry is possible in the winter or summer semester. Previous achievements will be recognized upon application. The classification into a semester is formally determined by the number of credit points credited for the degree program at TU Dresden.

If you are considering a lateral entry at TU Dresden, please contact the student advisory service of your target degree program, where you will receive further information and assistance for the entire process.

Recognition process

For recognition, you must assign your previous academic achievements to the modules in your target degree program at TU Dresden. An achievement is recognized if at least 75% of the competencies to be achieved have already been proven. Please use the Faculty's module handbooks (part of the study regulations) for the assignment process.

Every year, an information event for newcomers takes place at the beginning of October as part of the first semester orientation week. You can read the slides shown here: Lecture on recognition and study planning for lateral entry (in German).
You can also meet other students during the orientation week, so please take advantage of this opportunity to start your studies.
