The Future Energy Lab
Rethinking energy - together for the future
At our new research facility, everything revolves around one central question: how can we make our energy supply intelligent, sustainable and crisis-proof? The Future Energy Lab is investigating how energy can not only be generated centrally in the future, but also used, stored and even fed back decentrally - in other words, how it can flow in both directions. The aim is to use the existing infrastructure more efficiently and avoid critical situations in the power grid.
But energy is about far more than just technology. That's why experts from various fields at TU Dresden work together in our lab - from economics and transport to social sciences, law and technology. This interdisciplinary collaboration is the key to developing viable solutions for complex challenges.
The results of the research work flow directly into teaching, are published and made tangible through demonstrators - making research not only visible, but also tangible.
Diversity. Fairness. Sustainability.
The Future Energy Lab sees itself not only as a place for excellent research - but also as a space for respectful, open and sustainable cooperation. The principles of equality, diversity, equal opportunities and sustainability are not a side effect for us, but an integral part of our work.
We are actively committed to ensuring that all people, regardless of origin, gender, lifestyle or personal circumstances, have fair opportunities and an appreciative environment - in everyday research as well as at events and in teaching.
How we live this - an insight into our activities:
-
Mindful planning and implementation of our events - with a focus on respectful communication and inclusive cooperation
-
Seminars and further training for doctoral students, e.g. on diversity, unconscious bias or conflict resolution
-
Interdisciplinary and international summer schools with a balanced participant structure in collaboration with partners such as the International Office, EUTOPIA and Equal Opportunities
-
Promotion of work-life balance through flexible working models, adapted meeting times and in a targeted manner further education offers from TU Dresden (e.g. GA, ZfW)
-
Offers for students, mentoring programs and role models who inspire and provide guidance
-
Close cooperation with the equal opportunities officers of the faculties and the TU Dresden GreenOffice
-
Participation in initiatives such as "connectING" through professional input and open exchange at regulars' tables and network meetings
Our aspiration: A research lab that not only promotes technical innovation, but also helps shape social change.
